CicLAvia This Sunday in Los Angeles

There are a number of amazing music events scheduled for this Sunday, October 10 (check the calendar page).  Before you go out to one of those shows, consider attending Ciclavia.  Ciclavia is an event where seven and a half miles of Los Angeles city streets will be closed off to cars and opened for walkers, cyclists and any other non-motorized users.

7.5 car-free miles to explore

Modeled after the very successful Ciclovia in Bogota, Colombia, this event is free and will last from 10 AM to 3PM.  The route goes from East Hollywood to Boyle Heights, through Downtown and Little Tokyo.  I've ridden through many of these areas on my own and the experience is quite different from zooming through (or stuck in traffic) in a car.  While there figure to be avid cyclists and runners there, this event is really meant to be all inclusive, so if you want to get back on the bike, curious to check out the neighborhoods, or just want to people watch, check it out.

Let me know if you will attend, maybe we can meet up, ride a bit and talk some music.

UPDATE:  I incorrectly put Saturday as the Ciclavia day in the post title instead of Sunday as it is stated correctly everywhere else.  I have fixed that egregious error.
